PTCR is a fully registered Ballot Question Committee with the State of Michigan that complies with all applicable laws. Summary of People's Choice Tax Repeal Petition
Petition drive to amend Michigan Constitution, Art. 2, Sec. 9, Initiative & Referendum.
Amendment provides for referendum allowing voter repeal of tax hikes passed in 2007 - income taxes, Michigan busines tax, and other tax increases made since May 1, 2007.
Every new tax hike from now on will be subject to a special tax referendum.
Vote will be held at next even-numbered year statewide election following the tax hike enactment.
Tax is repealed if rejected by a majority of the voters at the polls.
Amendment also standardizes, modernizes, and clarifies inititiative forms and process.
Stops the legislature from making obscure rules to stall petition drives.
Gives voters a voice when the legislature changes citizen passed laws.
